Hi everyone - an exciting aside from ChickLitLibrary Review this week. Talli Roland's new novel, Watching Willow Watts is out on Kindle as of the 14th of September, and the paperback version will be available on Amazon in November (pre-order now.) And I have been lucky enough to be sent a review copy - so here's my take on things...
Watching Willow Watts by Talli Roland
Willow Watts has managed to drop the reigns on her life, moving from her budding dream-career as an up-and-coming florist in London to living back with her newly widowed father in Belcherton, Britain’s ugliest village. Willow battles to save her father’s shop from bankruptcy, whilst simultaneously preventing him from knowing anything about it. Suddenly, the answer seems to drop right into her lap when a you-tube video of her (shockingly bad) impersonation of Marilyn Monroe goes viral. As the world convenes on Belcherton, clamouring to see the ‘New Marilyn’, Willow is faced with a choice – let it all die down, or embrace this new identity, give the world what it seems to want and laugh all the way to the bank.
Just as Willow begins to get to grips with her new reality, a blast from the past appears, reminding her that maybe being herself wasn’t such a bad gig after all.
Set in a superbly drawn take on an English-idyll-gone-bad, Watching Willow Watts is full of characters to fall in love with, and is ultimately a love letter to individuality.
Talli Roland has just taken her ‘debut novelist’ badge, given it some points and a lot of glitter and entered herself as a star into the ‘chick lit hall of fame’. Watching Willow Watts will have you glued to a cast of loveable characters, and a plot that will have you giggling in the corner – an addictively sweet read.
So, on that note, I'll say goodbye 'till Friday - and go get yourself a copy of Watching Willow Watts as soon as is humanly possible. To keep up to date with Talli and her launch plans, nip over to her blog.
Cheers, Laura x
